The New Car

It saddens me to tell you, – last week I bought a car,

For my newly qualified daughter; – a spanky fiesta.

It’s not the fact that she would have – turned eighteen today,

And it’s not the act of buying, – that that breaks my heart this day.

But the fact that she did crash it – with her little sister Carrie,

And now, today we bury them – in this gloomy cemetery.
